Dr. Gaston M. N’Guerekata is a University Distinguished Professor of Mathematics. He received his college education at the University of Montreal in Canada then went to the University of California at Berkeley as a Fulbright scholar. He is an American Mathematical Society (AMS) fellow, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) fellow, African Academy of Sciences (AAS) fellow, and Pan African Scientific Research Council (PASRC) fellow. Dr. N’Guerekata authored 283 publications including 12 books at the graduate/research level with Springer, World Scientific, and Nova Science Publishers. His books on almost automorphy are cornerstones in the area. For this reason, a second edition of his 2001 book with Kluwer Academics was recently published by Springer. His colleagues call him the “Godfather of almost automorphy” or “Professor almost”. He received several honors including the French Legion of Honor, Memento of Honor at the 106th Indian Science Congress, the NAFEO Noble Award, the Dr. Iva Jones Medallion, and the Dr. Santire Jean McIntyre International award. Dr. N’Guerekata was the Claytor-Woodard lecture invited speaker (2006); the NAM-MathFest keynote speaker (2011); the International Conference on Dynamical Systems, Kolkata, India (2012); the Joaquim Bustoz Jr. lecture invited speaker, Institute of Pure Mathematics (IPAM), UCLA (2014): 106th Indian Science Congress, India, keynote speaker (2019); AMS invited address, Joint Mathematics Meetings (2022), and a keynote speaker at several more conferences in France, China, India, Morocco, Senegal, Brazil, Guadeloupe, Cameroon, Canada, Vietnam, and the US. Dr. N’Guerekata is a member of the editorial board of over 21 international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. N'Guerekata has served as Vice Rector of the university of Bangui, Minister of Scientific and Technical Research, and Special Advisor to the Head of State with ministerial rank in the Central African Republic. He served also as Department Chair and Associate Dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD USA.
