Makoudem Tene is a 2021 AAAS-TWAS Fellow. She holds a Master in Economics with honours from the University of Dschang in Cameroon. She is a researcher with the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation since 2011. Her fields of interest are: development economics, women and youth development and peace building. She has taken part in three research fellowships funded respectively by the Swiss Confederation (2013–2014), the World Trade Organization (2017) and the «Observatoire de la Francophonie Economique» (2018–2019). She has also published and co-published twelve scientific articles and has been a member of several research projects at national and international levels. Thanks to this work, in 2018 she was awarded the 2017 Best Junior Researcher in Social Sciences by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation. She is also a recipient of the 2019 INGSA-Africa Science Advice Essay Competition. She attended the regional training on science Advice in 2019 and was a member of the project team led by Professor Madiagne Diallo on « New modalities and New Themes for Science Advice in West and Central Africa : Focus on Youth employability and Women Entrepreneurship » that went from december 2019 to July 2021. She is a co-author of the 2021 INGSA Award Digital Poster with the project « CODE-Africa ».

In addition, she is passionate about volunteering in the field of peace. She is the national coordinator of the Creators of Peace Association and a member of the international committee. In 2021, she was appointed Ambassador for Africa for the Caux Scholars Program alumni network. Marienne is a competent communicator and leader of the programme Toastmasters International.
