Kopa Kowa was born in Abong Mbang, Cameroon. She hold a B.Sc degree in chemistry, a M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Organic Chemistry from the University of Dschang, Cameroon in 2006, 2008, and 2014 respectively. In 2011, she joined the institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plants Studies (IMPM), as a research assistant, in 2014, she became a research Officer and in 2019, she also became senior research officer. She performed postdoctoral work at the University of Liege, Belgium in 2016 and 2020) with Prof Michel Frederich. In the early 2019, she was appointed to the deputy head of phytochemistry laboratory in the CRPMT (Centre for the Research on Medicinal Plant and Traditional Medicine). She has upward of 15 years experiences in Natural Products Chemistry. Her research interest is mainly focus on the search of new bioactive constituents from Cameroonian medicinal plants through bioguided fractionation. She is the co-author of 25 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals related to Organic Chemistry and Chemistry Biology and has supervised the worked of several internships and one of Master thesis. She is actively involved in many research projects of the center. She is member of Organization for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD) and Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Africa Network.
